Grantmaking

While a majority of the grants are funded from the unrestricted assets of the Foundation and focused on improving access to health care and health improvement for the poor and underserved, there are also a variety of donor-restricted funds invested at the Foundation to improve the community's health through specific strategies. The Foundation funds grants from the following categories of funds:

• Improving Healthcare Access for Low-Income & Vulnerable Populations (Typically range from $5,000 to $35,000)
• Dr. Louis and Mrs. Anne Schneider Fellowships for Community Health Care Education (Up to $2,000 for staff continuing education.)
• Blessed Mary Catherine Kasper Award for Service to the Poor (Up to $1,500 for agencies serving the poor.)
• Burn Care and Prevention (Up to $10,000 to improve the overall readiness of the community in burn prevention and burn care.)
• Frederick J. Pfeiffer Fund in Honor of his parents Charles F. and Henrietta Eckart Pfeiffer (Grants typically $500 to $10,000 for capital improvements or acquiring medical or surgical equipment.)

Staff will assist with matching request to the appropriate donor restricted fund. Simplified application procedures are available for restricted grants under $5,000. We encourage grant seekers to discuss proposal ideas with Foundation Staff by telephone, personal appointment or e-mail prior to submitting a proposal. This will help confirm basic funding compatibility.
