As summer approaches, St. Joseph Community Health Foundation’s HEAL (Healthy Eating Active Living) program has two important updates for the Fort Wayne community: a closing deadline for organizations to bring nutrition education into their neighborhoods, and a returning schedule of fresh, affordable produce markets for residents.

Our HEALing Kitchen: Apply Before June 1

The application window for the 2026 Our HEALing Kitchen (OHK) program is closing soon, with a deadline of June 1 to apply.

Churches, nonprofits, and other organizations that serve vulnerable or low-income residents are encouraged to apply for grants ranging from $750 to $1,500. Grants support a series of six to eight cooking and nutrition classes that help community members learn to prepare healthy, affordable meals.

HEAL Farm Markets Return July 13

Later this summer, the HEAL Farm Markets will return, offering community members access to a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables grown by local farmers whenever possible.

A standout feature of the markets is their “double up” program, the only one of its kind among farm markets in the area. Through funding from St. Joseph Community Health Foundation and Parkview Health, HEAL doubles the purchasing power for individuals using SNAP EBT cards or Senior/WIC produce vouchers, meaning shoppers can stretch their produce budget at no additional cost.

Markets will be held at three locations beginning July 13:

• Johnnie Mae Farm — Mondays, 4–6 PM
• Parkview Health Greenhouse — Thursdays, 4–6 PM
• Southside Market — Saturdays, 10 AM–1 PM

Together, the Our HEALing Kitchen grant program and the HEAL Farm Markets reflect St. Joseph Community Health Foundation’s ongoing commitment to making healthy eating accessible and achievable for all residents.
