Statement Concerning Recent Changes in U.S. Immigration Policy Standing in Solidarity with Migrants

Inspired by Catholic Social Teaching, the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation serves the most vulnerable among us, believing that we are all created in the image of God.

As Christians, we also remember that Jesus, Mary, and Joseph — the Holy Family — were compelled to leave their land and migrate to Egypt.  Today, the United Nations states there are more than 120 million displaced individuals worldwide.  We pray to the Holy Family for migrant families and individuals compelled to leave their homelands because of violence, extreme poverty, or persecution and are now exposed to grave danger. May the Lord protect them.

We believe in “Welcoming the stranger.” Migrants are our sisters and brothers in Christ—created in the image of our loving Creator, just like the rest of us. They enrich our society through their presence, diverse cultures, work, and vitality while also contributing essential work and tax revenue that helps sustain Social Security and other services that benefit everyone.

Below is a collection of some selected resources to assist immigrants, refugees, asylees, and those who want to walk in solidarity with them at this time.
