Meet the St. Joe Foundation Board and Committee Members: Medina Habibic

Investment Officer, Star Bank

Throughout the 2026-27 board year, this series will highlight Foundation board and committee members.

Q: What drew you to join the St. Joe Foundation Board, and what about the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ’s legacy or the Foundation’s mission resonated with you?

As an immigrant, I deeply appreciate how important it is for individuals and families to feel supported, welcomed, and cared for by their community. The St. Joe Foundation’s mission of responding to community needs and serving those in need throughout Allen County really resonated with me. I was drawn to the opportunity to stay involved in the community we serve and support work that helps improve the health and well-being of individuals and families close to home.

Q: What are you most looking forward to experiencing or learning as you get more involved with the Foundation’s grantees and their work in the community?

I’m looking forward to learning more about our community through the eyes of the Foundation’s grantees, to get a better understanding where the greatest needs and gaps are, and seeing firsthand how St. Joe can help fill those gaps when possible. I’m also excited to hear the stories behind the work being done, meet the people who are making an impact every day, and gain a deeper appreciation for the ways the Foundation’s support helps strengthen individuals, families, and organizations throughout the community.

Q: What’s something about how the Foundation operates or supports the community that has impressed you so far?

What has impressed me so far is how intentional the Foundation is in grounding new board members in its history, mission, and values from the very beginning. The orientation helped me better understand not only where the Foundation came from, but also the heart behind the work it continues to support in the community.

Q: Outside of the Foundation, what’s something you’re passionate about that you love spending time on?

Outside of work, one of the things I love most is watching both of my boys play soccer. Our family schedule is often built around practices, games, and tournaments, but I truly enjoy being there to cheer them on.
