The Prenatal & Infant Care Network recently hosted a luncheon at the Allen County Downtown Library focused on the theme “Engaging and Supporting Fathers.” The event addressed the critical role of engaged fathers in improving infant health outcomes.

This initiative directly aligns with the Foundation’s core values and unwavering commitment to the holistic care of moms, babies, dads, and the entire family unit. We believe that by nurturing every member of the family, we create the strongest foundation for a healthy community.

Keynote speaker Larry Smith, President/CEO of the Indianapolis-based Fathers and Families Center, shared the organization’s holistic approach to empowering fathers of all backgrounds. Under his leadership, the center has served tens of thousands of men, and Smith detailed how their “Train the Trainer” model and comprehensive coaching help fathers overcome barriers to build stronger, healthier family units.

The luncheon also featured Austin Kelly, Supervisor of Fatherhood and Diaper Distribution at Healthier Moms & Babies. Kelly highlighted the impact of local fatherhood initiatives and the importance of access to essential supplies, such as diapers, in maintaining infant health and family stability. He provided valuable insight into how local organizations can effectively connect fathers with these practical, community-based resources.

The event concluded with a Q&A session, offering local professionals a collaborative space to discuss how these proven strategies can be adapted to strengthen families throughout Allen County.
