Allen County Healthy Homes Programs

Healthy-Homes

The Allen County Lead & Healthy Homes Program works with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the local Fort Wayne Allen County Department of Health and the City of Fort Wayne’s Housing and Neighborhood Services Division to make all Allen County residences healthy homes. Its efforts to eliminate risks include “lead education, advocacy, and outreach; the identification and elimination of environmental hazards; and identification of and case management for lead-poisoned children.”
Because children are especially susceptible to numerous environmental toxins found in the home, the lead prevention program has transitioned to become the Allen County Lead & Healthy Homes Program .  The new program will provide services not just to prevent and mitigate the consequences of lead poisoning, but also asthma and other home safety hazards.

Questionnaires about lead and general hazards are located on the Allen County Lead & Healthy Homes  website and should be reviewed by parents with children aged 6 months to 6 years.
