Margaret Distler
Born and raised in Fort Wayne, “Meg” has spent most of her adult life working in this community. Since 1993, she has worked locally with the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, first at St. Joseph Hospital and then at the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation. Her passion is to help the most vulnerable in our community experience a quality life and enjoy wellness.
She has served in leadership roles on many non-profit organizations in northeast Indiana. She currently serves on the Regional Board of Directors of Ivy Tech Community College Northeast Indiana, the Finance Council of the Diocese of Fort Wayne – South Bend, the Community Support Trust of the Our Lady of Victory Noll, and co-chairs the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance’s Health Equity Workgroup. Meg was honored with the Citizen of the Year Award for Fort Wayne by the Journal Gazette Newspaper in 2010 for her work to serve the Burmese Refugee Community in Fort Wayne and, in 2015 a Foellinger Foundation Stewardship Award Nominee for the Fort Wayne Trails. Meg is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Economics and American Studies and continues to be an avid Notre Dame football fan.
Meg enjoys being a part of St. Gaspar del Bufalo Catholic Church. She has happily married Bob Distler for 38 years and has two daughters and a son-in-law.
